Mobile video startup Vuclip released its very first iOS app this week, which may sound like just another app launch -- until you consider that Vuclip managed to grow to 120 million monthly active users without an iOS app. That's because the service is focused on emerging markets like Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East." iOS is very small in most of those markets," I was told by Vuclip CEO Nickhil Jakatdar earlier this year.
So why then launch on iOS after all? Because users in Vuclip's key markets are catching up quickly with their counterparts in the U.S. and Europe. "We're excited to extend the enthusiasm that our users have for Vuclip to iOS, as the world moves towards smartphones even in emerging markets" Jakatdar said this week.
