As expected, Google introduced Android TV Wednesday, pledging to developers -- for at least the third time -- that they would be able to create compelling applications for the television the same way they've worked with smartphones and tablets.
Back in May Janko Roettgers covered many of the details showed off by Dave Burke, engineering director for Android, at Google I/O 2014. It's Google's latest attempt to bring computers and apps into the living room, and is focused around search and using an Android phone as a remote control, instead of the incredibly convoluted remote controls that accompanied the launch of Google TV years ago.
Smartwatches made for the Android Wear program can also be used as remote controls for the Android TV system.
