Got a smartwatch? If so, chances are really good that your phone runs on either Google(s goog) Android or Apple(s Aapo) iOS software. After all, does anyone even make a smartwatch that works with Windows Phone? The situation should soon improve, at least a little, for handset owners who have opted for Microsoft's phones: PH Technical Labs, maker of the Hot Watch, is bringing Windows Phone support to its watch by the end of June.
The e-paper Hot Watch débuted as a Kickstarter project last year and met its funding goal; the first products are expected to ship in the coming weeks as a result. Both iOS and Android phones are already supported on the watch; the Windows Phone connectivity is new.
PH Technical labs says the addition of Windows Phone is a collaboration between it and Microsoft: "The two companies are working to create an application that takes full advantage of the uniquely personal characteristics of the Windows Phone operating system." The company also notes that Microsoft will be selling the Hot Watch and apps for it on Microsoft sites, which is a pretty strong signal of support.
The Hot Watch is available on-line now in four different models, each with a slightly different shape, in currently discounted prices ranging from $179 to $236. The watch is waterproof, has a pedometer function, can run apps and receive notifications from your phone. Additionally, the watch can be used for private voice calls with patented technology to amplify the sound when you cup your hand.
