Just in time for the OpenStack Summit, Blue Box has named Matthew Schiltz as its new CEO; Blue Box Founder and former CEO Jesse Proudman moves over to CTO.
Seattle-based Blue Box will also make its managed OpenStack private cloud offering generally available on Monday. Blue Box Cloud uses dedicated hardware to customers worried about data security and data sovereignty issues. Such use of dedicated hardware in theory eliminates the "noisy neighbor" problem of public cloud implementations in which the workloads of one company's workload could hog resources for other users on the same virtual machines.
Blue Box has 45 employees and $9 million in funding to date.
Schiltz was named CEO of Tier 3, an IaaS and data center services provider, in January, 2013; CenturyLink(s ctl) announced its acquisition of Tier 3 in November.
